Chaos in Order 2021
Following last year’s online edition, the premier work festival for organizational innovators was able to take place in person once again at DeFabrique. This edition of Chaos in the Order centered on the theme: never go back! Never return to outdated procedures, old patterns, and endless rules. It was a positive protest that encouraged visitors to think outside the box and turn things upside down.
ABOUT CHAOS IN ORDER
The "Chaos in the Order" Work Festival is an initiative of Huis van Verbeelding and is designed for (budding) organizational innovators who want to drive change, innovate, and spark a positive movement within their organization.
Positive protest
Rachel Levi—the founder of Chaos in the Order—set the tone for positive protest right from the opening. As the lights dimmed in the Perserij, guests were enchanted by Rachel’s spoken word and the music of Nicolaas Duin. Rachel appeared in a video clip, wearing a white jumpsuit against a white wall. Slowly, black paint splatters began to fly around her. Left, right, below, above, and all over the snow-white jumpsuit: she became the artwork. Until she suddenly stepped into the room in that outfit and finished her spoken word piece. “Chaos in the Order: we started a long time ago!”
Creative Work Festival
Time to let your creativity flow! As a visitor, you could mix and match your own schedule. The program featured top speakers in the fields of innovation, creativity, and alternative ways of organizing. Think of sessions like “No More Vague Talk” and “The Secret of Innovative Teams.” There was also time to get into the creative flow during workshops like “draw your own protest sign,” “the longest sketch note in the Netherlands,” and “design your own tote bag.” Want to let all that creative energy settle for a moment? Then there was the Eureka Room. You could plop down on a beanbag, put on silent disco headphones, and listen to music and poetry. Were guests still full of energy at the end of the day? Then you could stick around for the “we’re-not-going-home-yet” drinks party.

Once you understand where the error lies —that it is a pleasure to accuse pain and praise it—I will reveal the whole matter, and that very thing which was decreed by the inventor of truth and, as it were, the architect of the blessed life: that the error is a pleasure
made for an unforgettable experience.
