Mentelity Foundation 2019

Stylish gala outfits, impressive entertainment, and a dinner to die for: that was the “Leef!” Mentelity Foundation Benefit Gala 2019. Guests entered through the Smederij and were escorted to their seats under a starry sky illuminated by chandeliers. Once again this year, the Copraloods served as the setting for the Mentelity Foundation’s fundraising dinner. Bibian Mentel started this foundation six years ago to get more children with physical disabilities involved in sports. And with the fantastic sum of over 400,000 euros, the dream is growing even bigger.

A five-course meal by a Michelin-starred chef

A special evening calls for special food. None other than 3-star chef Jacob Jan Boerma of De Leest offered to put his culinary skills to work for the foundation. Together with the team from DeFabrique, the chef prepared the five-course meal in two open kitchens. This not only provided a spectacular glimpse into the kitchen, but also surprised the guests with delicious aromas wafting through the Copraloods.

To ensure the best possible dining experience, Meisjes van de Wijn served a delicious, perfectly paired wine with each course. Between courses, acts such as singer Tommie Christiaan, finalist Patricia van Haasdrecht (The Voice of Holland 2019), dancer Redo, and many others entertained the audience. A very special highlight was the presence of Princess Margriet, who was interviewed by Humberto Tan alongside Bibian about their special bond.

Exciting auction

Ultimately, the gala is all about raising as much money as possible. Just like in previous years, this was done through an auction. After the welcome drink at De Smederij, everyone received a bid number, and the auction began even before the main course was served. It was incredibly exciting to watch the twenty-four auction items change hands and hear the prices rise. From meet-and-greets with Max Verstappen and Armin van Buuren to ski vacations and unique paintings: the bidding was fierce. It ultimately resulted in a total amount of over 400,000 euros.

About the client
