Night of the Century
For ten days, DeFabrique served as both the inspiration and setting for a Michelin-starred interactive dinner. Guests journeyed through five courses and five rooms, a unique combination of theater and gastronomy. DeFabrique, XSAGA, and Restaurant Basiliek pulled out all the stops to amaze and astonish guests after a year of standstill. At the same time, DeFabrique and XSAGA celebrated their 20th anniversary.
Celebrating food, love, and experience
Night of the Century is a collaboration between DeFabrique, concept and production agency XSAGA, and Restaurant Basiliek*. Together, they pay tribute to the 100-year-old linseed oil and mixed feed factory.
Culinary journey
The building itself inspired the concept. Guests immediately became part of an exciting love story between the robust factory (voice: Barry Atsma) and Utrecht's Dom Tower (voice: Noortje Herlaar).
Michelin-starred chef Rik Jansma and his team from Restaurant Basiliek provided the food and wine. The third course symbolized the 1960s:
“I thought of flower power and the North Sea flood. The dish consists of Oosterschelde lobster garnished with flowers.”
— Rik Jansma, Michelin-starred chef at Restaurant Basiliek
Unique ambiance
The "evening of the century" was a feast for all the senses. Each room symbolized a different era, with guests dining in one room before moving on to the next. From the furniture to the cutlery and music, everything was perfect down to the smallest detail. Lighting, sound, and special effects completed the experience.
The periods include:
- 1920s
- Harsh war years
- Flower power era
- End point: DeFabrique as it is today
