Joint Command Information Service (JIVC)

IT is an essential tool for the Ministry of Defense. Every day, JIVC staff work together to create a secure and flexible digital environment. This ranges from communication systems on ships, phones, and tablets for military personnel on missions to the operation of weapon systems and the maintenance of workstations.During the Joint Information Support Command’s online IT conference, both the office and the operations teams were invited to an afternoon of knowledge sharing, but above all to build connections. The theme was “Get connected!” and it was a success! 1,565 colleagues gathered online for an interactive afternoon featuring inspiring speakers and engaging breakout sessions.

The Joint Information Support Command (JIVC), part of the Defense Materiel Organization (DMO), is the Ministry of Defense’s leading IT provider. It ensures that civilians and military personnel can collaborate seamlessly and effectively at any time of day, both in the Netherlands and on missions.

Get Connected

From “Connecting with Others” to “Civilians and Military: A Dream Team”: during four breakout sessions, guests could attend a wide variety of sessions. There were four livestream studios, each with its own unique look and feel. Speakers chose in advance which room they wanted to speak in to best convey the power of the conversation and the message. FX Agency was responsible for all aspects of content and production.

Q&A sessions provided an opportunity to ask questions of the presenting colleagues, thereby encouraging interaction and deeper discussion. After the sessions, participants were able to continue the conversation on the online platform.

Adiverse program

In addition to the substantive program, JIVC participants were treated to music, comedy, and physical activities. The Drummers and Pipers of the Marine Corps opened the online event, after which Rob Urgent and Joep van Deutekom engaged the audience in a quiz full of trivia and humor. Halfway through the IT working conference, it was time to get out of your seat and join the boot camp or enjoy nature outdoors. The successful day ended on a lively note with the steel band of the Drummers and Pipers, a fitting tribute to JIVC’s global mission.
