Dutch Tea Festival
The 35 vendors who offered their deliciously fragrant wares during the Dutch Tea Festival attracted more than 1,200 visitors. The atmosphere was delightful, as were the high teas and the musical interludes by the artists from Giel’s Talent Show. The very first tea festival in the Netherlands, organized and facilitated by DeFabrique, was therefore a huge success.
Tea is cool again
According to event manager Nikki from DeFabrique, the most widely consumed beverage (after water) deserved its own festival. Just like coffee, tea is back in style: in addition to the well-known tea bags, loose-leaf tea is becoming increasingly popular. There’s even a DJ who fills the space with the scent of tea, and brewing tea can be a very meditative experience. During the festival, the various spaces at DeFabrique were buzzing with tea innovations.
Want a cookie with that?
Nothing smells better than freshly baked cookies. That’s why, during the Dutch Tea Festival, Loods 7 was filled with the aroma of delicious coconut macaroons being baked right there on the spot. The high teas served on three-tiered stands were also a hit. The UTD mixed-food cart—a sturdy cart featuring a muesli buffet—made its debut today and was a hit with visitors.
It was a wonderful event to organize, partly because of the wide variety of visitors. I really enjoyed working with the team at DeFabrique. When we noticed that the workshops were filling up, they acted quickly to incorporate other spaces into the festival.
