The Forgotten Child 2022

100,000 children in the Netherlands feel forgotten. They have been neglected or abused. The Forgotten Child is dedicated to helping these children, for example by organizing Heppie Events. Last November, DeFabrique served as the venue for one of these events for the second time: Heppie Factory. Throughout the weekend, we welcomed no fewer than 500 children between the ages of 6 and 18 from group homes and foster homes for a day of carefree fun. It was time to dance, explore, and relax!

Having fun without a care in the world

At Heppie Factory, it’s all about having carefree fun, enjoying yourself, and discovering talent. The kids could let loose in various Heppie areas. For example, you could learn to scratch like a cool DJ in the Heppie Music Area, build hedgehog houses, go wild on the obstacle course, play a game of panna, box at Heppie Sports, go karting at the Kartfabrique, get face painting, play video games, and discover your inner Einstein with cool experiments. Relaxation was also on the agenda. In the beauty area, there were hairstylists, barbers, makeup artists, massage therapists, and a photographer to capture the final results.

An Unforgettable Day

A little boy said:

“I have a photo from the last event on my phone. When I’m not feeling well, I take a quick look at it.”

Wow! That’s exactly what Heppie Factory is all about: organizing an unforgettable day—one that won’t be forgotten anytime soon. In addition to running and flying around, it’s also important for the kids to be heard. That’s why the ambassadors were there to give the kids an unforgettable day and the attention they deserve. At Juvat’s dance workshop, for example, everyone was up on their feet dancing. Jamai, Inge, and the new ambassador, Edino van Dorsten, hosted the event. As the icing on the cake, Bizzey, Sigourney K, Numidia, and S10 took the stage. At the end of the day, everyone went home with a smile on their face. Mission accomplished!

Project Manager, Events, Het Vergeten Kind

“This year, we organized the second edition of Heppie Factory at DeFabrique. And what a party it was again! More than 500 children got to discover what they really love through a wide range of workshops and activities. These were days when they received plenty of attention from our amazing suppliers, partners, artists, ambassadors, and volunteers. They had an unforgettable day—and those happy faces… That’s why we do it! Working with the team at DeFabrique was fantastic. They were involved every step of the way, from A to Z, to make sure the kids had a fantastic day. We’re so excited to be coming back next year!”

About the client
Thousands of children in the Netherlands can no longer live at home. They have been neglected or abused. Het Vergeten Kind is dedicated to helping these children. Het Vergeten Kind’s goal is for all these children to feel heard and seen, to live in a safe and stable environment, and to develop in a positive way—so that they can find their own place in society.
Tamara Hans
Event Producer DeFabrique

“This is a wonderful collaboration! Everyone is giving it their all to give the children an unforgettable day. A child’s smile—nothing can beat that. Days like these bring you back down to earth. Going to the hair salon is an everyday thing for you and me, but for this group, it’s something truly special. I love working with the client, volunteers, and partners to make at least one of the 365 days unforgettable. And for us, of course, the icing on the cake is that the client gave DeFabrique a 10.”
