How to Start the Year Off Right: 5 Kickoff Ideas for Your Business
Your team is ready to go again at the kickoff: everyone with their own glass of 0.0 prosecco, toasting the new year, listening with half an ear to the director’s speech. But there’s another way. Use this kickoff as an opportunity to connect with your colleagues. Here are 5 tips for a kickoff that will leave a lasting impression.
A wall of New Year's resolutions
We’ve all been there: the new year has arrived, so it’s time to write down those New Year’s resolutions again. Why not use this as a way to bring colleagues together? By having them write down a resolution for the coming year on a wall, you’ll spark natural conversations among people. With a few sample questions, such as “In what area would you like to grow in the coming year?” or “What do you want to look back on with pride?”, you can help get that conversation off to an even better start.
Tip: Make gratitude the focus. For example, as we did at our winter staff party.
Get Active
January is also “I’m getting back into exercise” month, so why not start the kickoff off right with a sporty energizer? This can be as simple as having a fitness instructor lead a warm-up, or on a larger scale—think, for example, of a relay race through your office building. Have your colleagues give each other a compliment when passing the baton—that way, you’ll instantly combine several elements for a successful event.
Here's to a new year—even without alcohol
At your kick-off event, be sure not to forget your Dry January colleagues. For example, set up a bar with non-alcoholic beers and homemade lemonades, or have a bartender mix up fresh mocktails. That way, no one feels left out: everyone raises their glass at the same time. At DeFabrique, for example, we serve a variety of mocktails, such as a Spiced Mule, Virgin Mojito, or Virgin Passion. Prefer a company-exclusive special? We’d be happy to brainstorm options with you.
Murder Mystery Dinner
Want to go all out? How about a Murder Mystery sit-down dinner? While your employees are treated to a delicious meal, they’ll have to work together to solve the mystery unfolding around them. No more awkward conversations—just a shared goal to work toward.
Food That Brings People Together
After the holidays, everyone is in the mood for something refreshing. Think seasonal vegetables, winter soups, bowls, or salads. Light, colorful, and full of flavor: just right for a fresh start.
Or serve food at various food stations. As the chef prepares a dish right in front of you, the most wonderful conversations will naturally arise.
